"Usually it's the child that runs off when she's mad."
"I'm not mad, Kado." Another flat stone into the water. This one doesn't skip as well, and she thinks he's going to correct her technique. He doesn't. "Where is she?"
She knows he's lifted his shoulders by the sound of his jacket. "Doing her homework." He sits down beside her, but doesn't put his feet in the water like she is. "You're a good mother."
